Executive Director Keith McDaniel founded the Secret City Film Festival in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, in 2004 in celebration of the art of independent cinema. Nine years later, the festival was moved to Knoxville and rebranded as the Knoxville Film Festival. Held at Knoxville’s arthouse theatre, the Regal Downtown West Cinema 8, the festival has become the region’s destination for lovers and creators of cinema from all over the world. We proudly screen independent films, hold panel discussions and host two filmmaking competitions. Today, the Knoxville Film Festival welcomes close to 4,000 in attendance each year, and has had a record number of submissions for its 16th fest.
The 2019 Knoxville Film Festival will be held September 13-15th at the Regal Downtown West Cinema 8 with strong support from Regal Entertainment Group, who is headquartered in Knoxville, along with the help of local corporate sponsors. From Opening Night to the Awards Ceremony, the 2019 Knoxville Film Festival promises to be an exciting weekend filled with great films, networking opportunities, and fun-filled social activities.
